Race Report - Beursfoon Suzuki round 8 in Teutschenthal, Germany

Kevin Strijbos scores top ten moto finish at German Grand Prix

Amsterdam - The Beursfoon Suzuki Team had some bad luck at round eight of the World Championship Series at Teutschenthal in Germany. Marc de Reuver showed good speed all weekend and was riding inside of the top ten in the first moto. A crashed forced him to retire from the first and the second moto. Kevin Strijbos finished ninth in the first moto. In the second moto he charged his way back trough the field after a poor start. With still two laps to go he got a small mechanical problem and had to retire from the race.

The Beursfoon Suzuki Team started the weekend well on Saturday. Marc showed everybody that he is feeling better and better again and qualified himself in 11th position. Kevin Strijbos finished fifteenth in the qualifying heat which was good enough for a good gate pick on Sunday.

In the first moto it was Kevin Strijbos who took the best start and he went into the first corner in ninth position. Marc took a good start as well and came trough the first turn in twelfth position. Marc found his rhythm straight away and worked himself up to seventh position during the race. Soon after he crashed hard at a step up jump and had to retire from the race with a damaged bike. Kevin rode a consistent race and was riding in seventh position for a while. After a small mistake he dropped back to ninth position in which he finished.

In the second moto Marc started around fifth position but a crash in the early stages of the race forced him to retire from the race again. Kevin’s start was not so good this time and he had to charge back trough the field. With consistent lap times he passed one rider after another and worked himself up to twelfth position. With still two laps to go he got a small mechanical problem which forced him to retire from the race.

Kevin finished 14th overall in the German Grand Prix. After eight rounds he sits in eleventh position in the World Championship Standings. Marc de Reuver is in 23rd position in the standings.

The Spaniard Jose Butron made his comeback after a shoulder injury. Despite the fact that he still misses some race rhythm he managed to score points in both motos. In the first and second moto he finished in twentieth position which gave him 23rd position overall. After eight rounds he sits in 26th position in the World Championship Series MX2.

The Beursfoon Suzuki Team will now travel to Latvia for round nine of the World Championship Series.
