Race Report - Beursfoon Suzuki round 15 in Fermo, Italy

Good points for the Beursfoon Suzuki riders at the Italian Grand Prix


Amsterdam - Beursfoon Suzuki rider Marc de Reuver rode a strong Italian Grand Prix at Fermo last weekend. In the first moto he finished in twelfth position and after a poor start in the second moto he worked himself back up to fourteenth position. With these results he finished in thirteenth position overall.

Jose Butron scored five World Championship points at the Grand Prix of Italy. Because a mistake he didn’t score points in the first moto. In the second moto he took a good start and finished the race in sixteenth position.

The free practice sessions on Saturday were going well for Marc and this gave him confidence for the qualifying heat. In the heat he crashed in the first lap and had to come back trough the field. At the end of the first lap he came by start/finish in 37th position. Soon after he found his rhythm and charged back to 21st position.

Jose Butron posted the 26th fastest time in the free practice session and the pre qualifying session. In the qualifying heat he was riding in 20th position for a while but in the second part of the race he lost two positions and finally he crossed the finish line in 22nd position.

In the first moto Marc took a good start and came out of the first corner just outside of the top ten. Marc struggled to find his rhythm in the beginning of the race and dropped back to 14th position. Marc stayed calm and after some laps his riding started to go better. In the middle of the race he moved into 13th position and in the closing stages of the race he took over 12th position. Marc held on to this position till the chequered flag waved and scored nine world championship points.

Jose started around 20th position but because of the fact that he also struggled to find his rhythm he lost several positions and dropped back to 24th position. The pace was really high in the first moto and because he made a mistake in the middle of the race he dropped back to 28th position. In the second part of the race he managed to pass several riders who were riding in front of him and finally he finished the race in 25th position.

In the second moto Marc took a poor start and went into the first corner around 20th position. He found his rhythm straight away and during the race he worked himself up to 13th position. In the middle of the race he lost this position and after a well ridden race he finished the moto in 14th position. Jose took a great start in the second moto and came out of the first lap in 13th position. His riding went really well and for a moment he was riding in twelfth position. He had to lower the pace a little in the middle of the race but he was doing a great job and finished the race in 16th position.

Marc finished in 13th position overall and finished in 19th position in the final standings of the World Championship. Jose finished in 20th position overall. Jose will be racing the MX des Nations in the USA for Team Spain in the weekend of the 25th and 26th of September. The weekend after Marc will be a part of the Dutch Team at the European Championship of Nations at Markelo.
