Intro:
About Borneo
As the third largest island in the world, Borneo straddles the equator. It is for the most part, a tropical paradise of jungle enclosed by endless white sandy beaches.
The land area of Borneo is shared unevenly between the the countries of Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. Indigenous culture still dominates most of the island which is reknowned for the hospitality of Borneo's inhabitants.
Borneo has some of the oldest and most bio-diverse rainforests on Earth and an abundance of natural wonders.
Climate:
Most rainfall in Borneo occurs during the northeast monsoon, between November and January, with the dry season lasting from May to September. With a typical equatorial climate expect sunshine for most of the year with temperatures tending to hover between 25° to 33° Celsius during the day, while rarely dropping below 20° at night (except in the mountainous regions where it will be cooler).
Language:
With increased tourism and trade, English is now a common second language beside the Malay language and various dialects of Chinese in the major towns.

• Location:
Sabah is located on the northern portion of the island of Borneo. It is the second largest state in Malaysia after Sarawak, which it borders on its south-west. It also shares a border with the province of East Kalimantan of Indonesia in the south.
Sabah is popular for its wildlife conservation attractions, rain forest, surrounding nature and islands, beach resorts, tropical white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, and its warm and friendly people. Borneo consists of over 40 ethnic groups of people with over 100 dialects spoken. On our trans-Borneo expeditions focus more on off the beaten track riding that crosses borders between countries.
• Tours and Required Skill Levels:
Our tour varies from soft off and on road tours to hardcore Enduro rides through Borneo’s unforgiving jungles. Camping in tents and roughing it out on our tours is what you will expect. So you should consult with ride Borneo about what kind of tour best suits both your skill level and your accommodation comfort requirements.
The Hell’s gate of Borneo is a 2 day marathon of roughing it, while out bashing through the jungles and sleeping out in tents. This is the shortest of the tours we provide for adventure dirt biking.
• Facilities & Support:
Ride Borneo provides support vehicle on all our tours, however on single trails our support vehicle will meet up on the other end of the trail. Depending on which tour you are participating on, there are days where we will go without any support vehicle. Accommodation is also basic (camping tents) and the exact camp location will depend on time and weather conditions.
